In memory of Romit Thomas

Donation protected
May 14th, 2021 is the most shocking day of our lives, one that none of us expected would come this early. Our beloved friend, Romit Thomas (35) fought for his life for the past 3 weeks, and finally decided that it’s time to go. What started as a stomach pain, transformed into life threatening pancreatitis, followed by lung infection, low oxygen levels, blood clots, and eventually leading to his death. He leaves his wife, Lynette Johnson, 7-months old beautiful daughter, Norah, younger brother Rajeev, and parents.

Those who have known Romit, spent time with him, would agree what an amazing human being he was, and the positive influence he had on many around him. “Live life to the fullest” was his motto, and he preached and lived by this day in, and day out. He had a charming personality, one that would attract all; amazing wit, that brought smile on people’s faces. Even a 5-minute casual conversation with Romit, would leave a world of positive impression on them.

Romit’s family is from Guntur, Andhra Pradesh. Just like us, he migrated to USA in order to pursue his dream of higher education and career. He was a huge sports fan. He was an avid follower of football and particularly followed Arsenal club to heart. Besides football, he also followed the game, Cricket and played the sport with passion. A very good all-rounder, who always carried the best interest of the team.

Romit had a calm demeanor even in the most stressful situations, and more often than not, would come out with flying colors and an amazing smile in the end. Romit was a kind person, who would go above and beyond to help someone in need. His presence was always felt in and around the community.

Romit was always the first one to offer help, and has done many philanthropic deeds for people in need. He was an active participant and member of many volunteering organizations in India and USA. Many people will walk in and out of our lives, but people like Romit will leave footprints in our heart.

We as friends and family are initiating this fundraiser to provide support to the family during these tough times. We know no amount of money will bring the smile back any time soon, but it will certainly help the family settle down. The money collected from this campaign will be used to cover any unpaid hospital bills, funeral expenses, and for securing the future needs of his family. Part of the donation will also go towards Romit’s vision and purpose of giving it back to the society.

Our hearts are broken and we are lost but having faith, family and friends will get us through the days ahead. Thank you for any help, and most importantly your prayers for the family. If you do donate, please leave a message or memory you have of Romit. This will make the family smile as they read your kind words.
