Imagine Possibilities is a licensed adult and childcare day care facility in Washington County, Oregon that cares for people with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Imagine Possibilities "imagines" possibilities for each and every person it serves.
This is a place where families and their participants are listened to and attention is paid to achieve the best care possible for everyone. People attend Imagine Possibilities where they get to socialize, learn crafts, and learn new skills. Individuals with more skills volunteer locally at the Oregon Food Bank, School House Supplies, and Cat Adoption Thrift Store where they work with other volunteers in the community. Imagine Possibilities provides care necessary for people who require specialized medical delegated nursing tasks and one-on-one care throughout the day.
Our organization sees the possibilities in all people who, without it, their lives would be isolated and lonely.
All of this magic happens in an 8400 square foot building built over 50 years ago by volunteers on land donated by the Kiwanis Club. Our building is overdue for repairs.
Although the State of Oregon and Washington County pay for our participants to be here, there is never enough to invest in keeping the building upgraded and safe. The building is over 50 years old and age is taking its toll. This building was built in the early 1950's to accommodate children with "mental retardation" for whom the schools would not serve. It was staffed by parents who volunteered their time so their children could get an education until the schools opened their doors to children with disabilities and that's where our story began.
Your contributions will help imaginations thrive and preserve a facility that provides a necessary service to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in our community and continues to offer them a place to IMAGINE.

About Imagine Possibilities: Formerly The Arc of Washington County, they left the Arc in 2012 and renamed their organization "Imagine Possibilities" to expand programing options for the people using the facility. Imagine Possibilities believes that we as a society need to move past using the "R" word when working with and helping people with disabilities. This led the transition away from The Arc.
