Study Abroad Program to France
Donation protected
As of January 24th, I have officially been accepted into the Indiana University Honors Program in Foreign Language! I now have
the opportunity to go to France for eight weeks to study French culture and
language this summer. I am very excited to have this opportunity to learn and develop. This program is especially unique because I would only be allowed to
speak French from the moment the plane takes off. I have dreamed about studying
French for years. Having a French grandmother, I was fascinated by my French heritage growing up. I took as many French classes as I could and looked forward to the day when I would finally go to France myself. I watched my sisters go through this program four years
ago. To this day they treasure the memories and lessons they learned. As a
freshman I started saving for this trip by spending as little as possible. I
then applied for a job last summer as a retail clerk at the Culver Campus
Store. After resisting the temptation of numerous purchases, working
countless hours, and writing over twenty letters to friends and family, I now have $3,170 to put towards this program. I
have applied for financial aid from IUHPFL; however, one can only receive up to
$1,200. In an ideal situation, I am still $2,630 short of what I need to pursue
this opportunity. Beyond continuing to save my own money, I have reached out to
Culver for help. Even with their sponsorship, I am still short of my goal.
Would you please help me in being able to participate in this program? Any
amount of money puts me just a little closer to my goal. This opportunity means a tremendous amount to me, and I know I would cherish the memories forever.
