IHeart BabyKJ

On September 16, 2020, Baby KJ entered this world with a fight to have what most newborns are born with. A healthy heart. He was diagnosed in the womb to have a congenial heart condition that allowed him to survive 9 months of growth and development. However, he was born with 3 chambers, 2 atria and 1 Right Ventricle. Due to concerns shown on multiple fetal monitors and echocardiograms, the cardiologist and second opinion surgeons strongly urged for Baby KJ to have 3 open heart surgeries. Starting with the first, within the first seven days of life. On Monday, that first surgery was completed. Now, recovery period begins before another surgery. As grandma to Baby KJ, I am highly concerned for the parents (my daughter and life partner) who are faced with the commute, an hour and half away, and lodging expenses while their own home, utility bills, college courses and job become less secure in the final outcome of this time period. As BabyKJ needs their love, support and focused attention at his hospital bedside.
