I.G.U.I.V. Thomas Fire Victims Fund

As a group of people that dearly care for our city/county of Ventura, we are all heartbroken to see our beloved city and people suffer from the Thomas Fire that has destroyed over 1,000 structures, devastated the hillsides and displaced our friends, neighbors and families. Our Facebook group named I Grew Up in Ventura is more than 15,000 people strong, and we have come together on our page to share our sadness, hope and prayers for the victims of the fire to be safe and survive. Let's do one more for the victims and make a contribution to the I.G.U.I.V. Thomas Fire Victims Fund that will offer support to victims that are currently displaced by the Thomas Fire.   Lisa Mechanick (grew up in Ventura and currently in Israel) and Joanne Monahan Stetson (born and raised in Ventura, and currently living in Piedmont, CA, we are both VHS class of '79) would like to ask us all as a group to raise money to help the victims that need immediate help, like meal vouchers and clothing gift cards, whatever we can do as a group to show how we genuinely care about our town and people.  Lisa and I both grew up in Ventura and currently both live in other areas.  Much like all people that love Ventura, we have I.G.U.I.V. to share our memories and love of Ventura. 

Consider a donation of $10, $25 or $50 to see if our group could make a significant contribution to the people that are now dealing with loss. Our plan is to distribute gift cards to Ventura residents that have lost their home or belongings due to the Thomas Fire.    We identified the victims that lost their homes in the apartment structures that were destroyed and we will be contacting the individuals to contribute gift cards.  

Today in Ventura, there are people without power, without clean water, without homes and sleeping in cars and shelters and they our need help.  Make your contribution today so we can get help to them right away.  The goal is $50,000.  If we can achieve that goal, Lisa and Joanne would be so proud to realize that we can do more than pray, more than hope and more than talk about the beach and corn burritos.  Donate today!
