Hunter Regier's Kidney Transplant

Hello! My name is Hunter Regier. When I was six years old, I was diagnosed with a rare kidney disease called Renal Coloboma Syndrome. Its a disease that is caused when the kidneys fail to continue to develop. Therefore, one of my kidneys is only the size of a 3 year olds and the other is of a 6 year olds. The doctors had told me very early on that I would need a transplant in the future. They had said at the time of the diagnosis that it is rare for a patient with this disease to go past 16 years old without a transplant. I will be 21 in September 2014. It has been a blessing being able to last this long without a transplant, but all good things must come to an end, and the time has come to begin the process. That is what brings me to this site. While insurance will cover most but not all of the medical expenses, there are still many other costs that would need to be covered like, transportation since I live in Kingsburg, California and the surgery will be in San Francisco, California. After surgery, I will have to go in for weekly check ups for about a month, then it will go to monthly visits. Therefore, my Mom and I would have to rent an apartment so I could be close for the duration of the first month of testing. This can be very costly. Co-pays for medications will also need to be out of pocket, so donations would also help with that. As I said before, this process is very costly and I hope I we don't run into any other unnexpected costs, but that is always a possibility. If you choose to donate, all the funds will go toward paying all the expenses involved in the process. I will be forever thankful for any and all support!

A little about myself, I am currently attending college locally with a Art major. My dream is to eventually move to Los Angeles and pursue a career as a filmmaker.

 I also enjoy photography, painting, drawing, and writing. Along with my brother, we created a youtube channel called Blue Nebula Pictures where we showcase our past films and other arts. I enjoy camping, fishing, playing with RC Cars, and sitting around the fire with family and friends. Life would be very hard without them.
