Hugz - Shih tzu emergency csection

Donation protected
Hugz our 9 year old Shih Tzu had an unexpected pregnancy.  So unexpected we had no clue until she was in labor.  January 2 nd late afternoon Hugz was panting and restless. We took her to Eagleson Veterinary Clinic in Kanata where she was seen by Dr. AMMAR.  DR Ammar advised she would need xrays, blood work followed by a csection.  When I had called ahead there was no mention that payment would need to be made on the spot, nor was I expecting a bill of this size.  Guess I assumed a payment plan was an option - and it isnt. I was told they need the payment before any further care on her was done.  Dr Ammar advised me at this point that she was in distress and struggling, panting  and exhausted because she couldnt push the puppies out.  They gave me two numbers to call for emergency funding  which were supposed to be 24hour agencies and they weren't.  First it was a Saturday evening and holidays.  Dr ammar advised we pay $303 for services already rendered and to take her home and hope for the best but that she would most likely suffer and struggle more and potentially die.  After exhausting all options for help towards getting her the money for the care needed, I called Dr Ammar back and said there is no way I could come up with $3679 in 30 minutes. He had no other suggestions. I was not going to remove her from his care just to bring her home to struggle and die.  I asked Dr AMMAR how much for euthanization (this obviously  was not what I wanted, but when he said she was exhausted, distressed and they weren't going to help without payment what else did I have left?) His reply was $250. I said ok, I've already sent $303 to cover services rendered I will email transfer another 250 and we can put her to rest so she doesnt suffer anymore.  Dr Ammar then said" I will do the surgery and you can pay when you can". Obviously I was thankful and have every intention on paying the BiLL in full.  Hugz had her c section, and 3 babies were weak but thriving.  They were released within 30 min of the csection and she is now home and recovering.  Hugz and her puppies are doing well at this point
I received an email from the veterinary clinic this afternoon saying if payment wasnt made in full by today they would send to collections. They refused to contact the Farley Foundation as we arent clients just emergency care. I am on Disability and in any other circumstance would qualify for the foundations help. I am fully aware of the costs entailed in raising a dog and maintaining her health throughout her life. This pregnancy was unplanned, and unsure still even how.
Please save your negative comments.  I'm under enough stress as it is. Hugz belongs to my teenage daughter and as a mom it would have broken my heart to break hers. I did what I felt was in the best interest
Yes I could have kept her home and hoped for the best - but with the way 2020 went and the way 2021 is starting we all know the best is unlikely to be a positive outcome. I understand we are all in struggling times due to covid and of course the Christmas Holidays.  I dont expect anyone to help, and I've never done one of these so this is my first. I was advised to try as anything at this point helps.
We have applied for pet insurance so now we will be covered for future expenses should another emergency arise
She is also spayed so no more unexpected surprises.

If you have read this far, I thank you for taking the time - if you can help by sharing that would be greatly appreciated.
