Hope For Harper.
My dear friends, Lauren and Dakota, have been going through some life altering trials in the past few months. First, they found out they were expecting their first child! YAY! Then, they cut into a cake to find that they would be bringing a sweet baby girl into the world, Harper Jade. Soon to follow were weeks of life changing information. They learned that Harper only had a two vessel umbilical cord, where healthy babies need three to supply adequate nutrients. So mom was put on bed rest and a strict diet to help Harper gain weight. Soon to follow that information, was that the two chambers on the left side of her tiny little heart were not working as well as they should be. This left them with the diagnosis of Partial Left Hypo-plastic Heart Syndrome, added to her previous condition of IUGR, Intrauterine Growth Retardation caused from the two vessel umbilical cord.
Harper is expected to be arriving by the end of May, a month and a half early. She only weighs 1 pound & 13 ounces right now. She will need to have open heart surgery as soon as she is born. The doctors prefer to do heart surgery on babies weighing four pounds; Harper will more than likely not make that goal. However, she will be in the hands of extraordinary doctors that specialize in all of her unique needs and they will be well prepared for her arrival.
Harper is going to need a lifetime of special care. After her initial heart surgery, she will require many more in the first few months and years of her life.
This family is one that I look up to. They are the most up-beat, caring and influential people I know. Lauren is the type of person who can light up a room with her smile and laughter. When she speaks to you, you can genuinely feel her love. Her husband Dakota is a Youth Minister and lives his life to help create a positive change in others.
All donations will be given to this family in their time of need. Your donation will help with the many expenses that traveling to specialty doctors and hospitals will require of them. It will help support the cost of their every day life, as both of them have had to cut back on working. Most importantly, it will give Harper Hope. Your donation will allow her to have the life saving surgeries she needs, medications, hospital expenses, and countless other financial necessities that will be asked of this sweet family.
