Help & Hope 4 Barb Downey!

Barb Downey is known throughout the Pocatello community as a woman with a never-ending capacity of love & for being a woman who would give you the shirt off her back if she believed you needed it more than she does! She is often the 1st to offer help & Support for others going through difficult times even when facing them herself as a single Mom working to help put her daughter through college.  Barb has also been a tireless advocate for members of Idaho's #LGBT community who often  face harassment and discrimination simply for being who they are.

This week a medical emergency struck Barb's life and as someone who has no medical insurance, it is now Barb Downey who is in urgent need of assistance. She had to be rushed to the hospital after falling victim to a very aggressive infection that began as a simple blister on her big toe. Barb was admitted so doctor's could begin IV antibiotics immediately & was also scheduled for a surgical procedure the next day so her wound could be cleaned in-depth and doctor's could assess the extent of the bone infection. In the end, the doctor's were unable to save Barb's big toe and because she has a compromised immune system as a result of diabetes she now faces several weeks without work while she receives daily IV antibiotics to help her continue to battle this infection which has already cost her so dearly.

It is my hope that the many people touched by Barb Downey's big heart will be there for her now. Please contribute whatever you can to help Barb as she heals from this & adapts to life without her big toe. It is too soon to know if she will still have a her job when this is through and/or whether it will be one she can do since she is required to stand all day in order to do it.
