Chan Rogers was just 18 when he went to France as a soldier in World War II. Amidst the horrors of war, his division successfully liberated the town of Scherwiller, France from the Nazi army, and went on to liberate a number of other towns in France and Germany. Chan remained in active duty for 35 years in the US Army Reserves and eventually earned the rank of full bird Colonel.

73 years have passed since the liberation of Scherwiller, but the 103d regiment and Col. Rogers’ role in the town's history has not been forgotten. He has been invited back to represent the 103d, as a monument is dedicated to his Division which celebrates the Town’s liberation. The monument will be dedicated while the world celebrates Armistice Day this November 11th.

Now 92, Col. Rogers is honored and excited to return to France to commemorate his division’s role in bringing freedom to the town of Scherwiller. This is an honor that he hopes to share with his wife by having her accompany him to the ceremony – a journey that is not going to be easy for her. Mrs. Rogers has fought through multiple medical tragedies, and as a result is almost completely paralyzed. To travel to France, she will need a significant amount of support and care – and this level of care is costly.

With your help, Col. Rogers will be able to take part in the commemoration of the liberation of Scherwiller, and have his wife by his side so she can witness and celebrate her husband’s role in world history.
