As many of you are aware, our dear friend Hongyu Boley, was killed when struck by a vehicle in Marshall, MI on Saturday, August 16, 2014. She was merely out for a morning jog. The crash resulted in traumatic brain injury. She was flown to Bronson Medical Center in Kalamazoo for treatment, but was ultimately pronounced dead on Monday, August 18. The circumstances of the accident are still under investigation.
In addition to her husband, Jon, Hongyu leaves behind two young daughters (ages 7 and 10), a brother and elderly parents still in China. In addition to the many expenses associated with her medical care and final passing, the family has a number of other immediate and long term needs including child care, grief counseling, legal fees, and the lifelong costs of child rearing that now must be borne on a single income.
No one could see this tragedy coming nor prepare for it. As friends, we wish to help Jon and the girls in any way possible to get through this awful tragedy.
