Caravans for Homeless

We are Kate and Linda, two Hobart residents, who started off the Hobartians Facing Homelesness facebook group after hearing Scott Gadd speaking publicly about the difficulties of homeless people camping at the Showgrounds. We contacted Scott to see what the community could do to help and worked out that the first thing needed was some caravans, and so we started this fundraiser.

When we have enough money for a caravan, we'll work with Scott to buy something suitable and get it on site.  This is intended to be temporary, as we understand that the Showgrounds does not want to be a permanent shelter for homeless people. When the crisis is resolved we'll sell the caravan/s and donate the money to an organisation that supports homeless people, eg Hobart City Mission. If the government goes ahead and sets up a transitional housing site to take over from the Showgrounds, we'd like to donate to that as a priority.
