Meet Kobe...
Kobe is one of *those* puppies. U know what I mean...the purebred, beautifully marked, sweetest disposition kind of puppy that breeders make a killing off of. The one where people will spend thousands to purchase without thinking twice. "It's worth it!" they will say, "Just look at him!!!" But that's where it ends.
The dollar sign they put on him was for his looks, for WHAT he is - a purebred Pomeranian. It was not for HIM, though. He did not go to the vet for his puppy visits. He did not get his vaccines. He was not neutered. And when he fell off the couch last week, his family waited 4 days to bring him into a vet. Four. Days. X-rays revealed he has a fractured radius and ulna of his right front leg.
They were given the only solution there is: surgical repair with an estimate between $2000-$3000. But to them, that was NOT the only solution. They had a better idea - they opted to have him euthanized. So at 7 months of age, this puppy was going to die because his cuteness and bloodline was worth more than his life. Of course the vet refused and they surrendered him into their care. That is how he got to us....
And this is why we are asking for donations. His vet bill immediately became ours. In addition to this surgery, he needs all routine vaccines, heart worm test, neuter, microchip etc. That is on top of the $2000-$3000 estimate. So during the most financially stressful time of the year, I am asking u to stretch urself even further. I am asking u to donate whatever u can, even if in ur mind it seems small and pointless. To me, it's not. And it's certainly not to Kobe.
I'm asking u to help a dog u do not know, do not love, and have no financial responsibility towards. And I'm asking u to do this during Christmas time. But we, the animal advocates, must show that although those people paid thousands for him, his life doesn't have a dollar sign. His life is worth far, far more.
