This is Teresa Alday, Derrick's sister and I am updating the family and friends on his, our, and his children’s situation.
This has been a very difficult two years but Derrick appreciates all the love and support he has received from all the family and the friends.
Today, he informed us that he will be in court on Wednesday the 24th and on Friday the 26th he will be picking his jury for trial. He has a deadline and it is really short notice.
The attorney is asking for an expert witness which costs 2,500.00. We do not have that as of yet however we are trying our best to get that for his case. It is very hard to do on short notice. All prayers, thoughts, and wishes of a good outcome are welcomed.
The girls and Charain are living here. As happy and healthy as can be expected. Strong Mom's are a blessing and Charain is nothing but strong! They are just trying to get their footing in the way of doctors’ appointments, therapies, and assistance to get care they need. Charain has been a big help for me with my health issues. I have needed so much help. I don't know where I would be without her coming out here to rescue me!
Derrick is asking for any help for this case. Derrick explained this was the “difference between 2 years of prison which he has now come to accept and double digits" which shake our whole family. His two daughter's have no concept of anything accept they want their Daddy home. Life is not perfect, mistakes are made, and this falls short of the reality of not seeing him for many years. It doesn't matter if you can't help much or at all. We are just trying to make the effort to assist him one last time. Almost 2 1/2 years of this and it is coming to a end next week.
Derrick plans to return everything when he is able to return to "normal life." I am not sure we all know how to get that back. We love you all very much and he is constantly reminded of many of you as we have talked just about ever day for the past 2 years.
