The Backstory
Coco is 3 1/2 years old and has always been a very active dog. She loves to swim and play with her friends at the park! Then I started noticing she wasn't playing as hard, she wouldn't jump into the car and then I heard it... a clicking noise when she moved. A trip to the vet confirmed that she has hip dysplasia; however my heart was not prepared for the vet to tell me that Coco has it in both hips and would need total hip replacement for both hips. Apparently she was born with abnormal bone growth and has been in pain since birth, but since the feeling is all she has known, Coco thinks the pain is normal.
The Cost
Each hip replacement will cost approximately $5500, so the total will be $11,000. Fortunately Coco has insurance and as long as they follow through on her policy that hip dysplasia is covered, they will cover 80%, which leaves us to cover $2200. She will also have hydrotherapy for her 3 month recovery but we do not know the cost for that yet.
How You Can Help
Coco's surgery is tentatively scheduled for February 1, 2018 at A&M. The funds will be due at that time.
