Help Tammy Stay Out of a Nursing HM

Please Help Keep Tammy at home with her family and out of a NURSING Home.
Tammy is one of the sweetest and most loving persons I have ever met! She is always happy to see you and makes you feel so alive just being in her presence! While mentally, her mind is that of an 8 year old, she doesn't realize her handicaps, and as such is full of wonder and awe. She's never met a stranger and doesn't understand the words hate or prejudice.

Tammy is a tough cookie! She's had it rough these last 18 months. Last year, she survived a massive subdural hematoma and subsequent brain surgery.

During that time, Sharon remained devoted to her survival and recovery. She stayed with Tammy during the hospital and subsequent Rehab stays and continued to stay with her at home the following months to give her a fighting chance. Tammy had to be fed, bathed, changed, helped to the bathroom and much more. The strategy worked and Tammy became stronger. She was able to walk with a walker and feed herself.
Their love story is unique and inspiring!

Sharon returned to work full time and Tammy was doing well. She enjoyed sitting in her chair and watching her favorite TV show, The Monkee’s. If she wasn't watching them, she was listening to them on her iPad. Tammy uses headphones for both because she needs hearing aids.

Things were looking up for Tammy. Then...Over the summer, Tammy began losing weight and in September it was discovered she had pneumonia from dysphasia (aspiration). She became extremely sick and weak and returned to the hospital. She is out of the hospital and home.

She needs IMMEDIATE around the clock care and attention if she will have any chance of returning to herself and normal life. Since returning home, Sharon has been taking care of her while trying to balance work and make sure her wonderful son is going to his activities and receiving his own attention and love.

The cost of keeping Tammy home is taking it’s toll both financially and emotionally on Sharon, her sister. She wants to keep Tammy at home because she knows that is the only place Tammy will thrive. Sharon believes with the proper care and interaction, Tammy will excel and be back to herself within 6 months.

I think she is right, even though, it may take longer than that, my goal that is set for them is for 6 months of immediate 24/7 care in the home plus a few extra needs for Tammy, such as hearing aids and proper equipment at home.

My research shows using a certified home care agency that charges 20+ an hour for the nurses would equate to roughly $500 a day and $3,500 a week. The more money that is raised the longer Tammy will get to stay at home and have a chance to recover!

I am asking for anyone who has seen Tammy's journey on Sharon's social media, or anyone who has been touched by their amazing love story, to help donate what they can. Every dollar will help!

If you can't , I understand and simply ask that you share this with as many people as you can because I think the world just needs a little love, compassion and kindness right now and that is certainly true for my dear friend, Sharon. Sharon’s love and devotion for her handicapped sister has made me realize the importance of being a kinder, more compassionate human being and this is the least that I can do for them!

Thank you all so much ❤️
Mehdi
