Help Shirel

I've never done a Go Fund Me before, but for Shirel, she needs someone to help. Why do I want to help her? Because she is one of those people trying to make ends meet and doing so the right way. Here is her story:

Shirel is a cafeteria aid at the company where I work. She has worked here for 7 months. As one would imagine, it's hard to make ends meet on the salary of a cafeteria aid.  She is a single mom. Her kids, live with her sister just so they have the opportunity to go to a slightly better school. Plus, DCFS requires Shirel to have a car so she can get back and forth to her doctor appointments and get her kids to and from school.

So, yes, she is without a car, but every day she finds a way to /from work by either walking or getting a ride. She worked hard to buy an $800 car. This would have helped her get to work and meet DCFS requirements. Three weeks later the engine seized. She needs a new engine (which is more than the car is worth). This also destroyed any hopes of her regaining custody of her kids.

About 4 months ago she had to leave work abruptly. Her 2 year old daughter had a seizure (one of many). Her daughter was hospitalized and in a coma, Shirel would come to work, just so she could get as much money as possible.  While Shirel has not once complained about the hospital bills and medical expenses, I do know the medical expenses for her daughter are mounting as she requires additional medical care.

As if that wasn't enough, a few weeks ago Shirel was rushed from our office to the hospital. She had a stroke. Today, I noticed Shirel was a bit down, which is atypical. I learned that she will require various medical procedures to help find a cure for her condition. Hopefully, these procedures will be non-surgical. However, Shirel wasn't stressed over her own health. Rather, she was concerned that her medical needs will make her lose time at work. Subsequently, she loses much needed income to pay for her daughters care. She also loses the ability to fix her car and meet DCFS requirements.

To put your own health at risk so your daughter can be healthy, defines selflessness and love.

Despite these hardships, she shows up to work on-time, every day. She always has a smile and strives to make others happy. Good people deserve a break and if anyone needs a break, it's her. If I had the money, I'd give it to her myself. Please assist in making Shirel's life a little easier!

I entered a monetary goal of $15,000, but frankly I have no idea how much she needs. All I know is that she deserves a break. I'd like to raise enough money to get her a reliable car and help payoff medical expenses.
