Helping Ria Rebuild Her Life

On August 21st 2017, Ischia was hit with an earthquake that devastated parts of the island. Specifically
the quake’s epicentre struck north of Casamicciola at a depth of about 4.8 kilometres.
Unfortunately this is the heart of where our dear daughter/ sister/ friend, Ria and her family, live.
Just when she thought the dust has settled, another one struck on August 23rd, then again on August 30th.
After the last quake, Ria returned to her home by herself to only discover that the only laneway to her house has been barricaded by collapsed sheds and old cobblestone walls. With her husband away, she braved the debris to survey the damage to her house. Upon entry, she was certain that if she had put the kids to bed sooner, the toppled dressers, glassware and wardrobes would have sealed their fate.
As you can imagine her house is now uninhabitable and deemed unsafe. Inaddition, the blockade for the only access to her house will make retrieving any personal belongings very very difficult.
Ria and her children have been staying with her in-laws as they are slowly trying to pick up pieces of their lives and figure out where to go next.
Please help us get them started, as they need to find a place to rent and the basics (i.e. bed, tables, chairs etc) to begin a new.
