Help the Pemberton Family Fight Cancer

Donation protected
The Pembertons are a warm, loving family in St. Louis county who have had to endure more over the last 10 years than any family should. Please allow me to introduce you to Ron and Kirbi, hard-working father and brave mother to four incredible daughters--Karissa (7), the youngest daughter who wants to do everything and is not satisfied to just sit around; Kassidy (14), who is incredibly smart and driven to be the best she can be; Kadee (19), who is currently attending college to be an Ultrasound Technician and has the sweetest soul you'll ever find; and Kirstee, who passed away 10 years ago at age 12 from a cancerous brain tumor. She was the brightest of angels and is missed dearly every day.

Recently, this enduring family has again had to struggle with the enemy of cancer. Ron was diagnosed with prostate cancer in May, 2014 and has already had surgery to remove his prostate. As follow up to this procedure, he is expected to have at least 40 radiation treatments. As you can imagine, this has put considerable financial strain in addition to emotional stress on the Pembertons. Ron is the primary bread-winner as a stonemason and won't be able to work for at least 6 weeks while he recuperates from the surgery. Unfortunately, he has no more vacation or personal days to take since he spent them all during the winter while laid off for about a month. Stonemasonary work has become scarce during the winter months over the last several years due to lingering effects of the Great Recession on the construction industry. And, only time will tell if Ron can work while receiving radiation treatments even after he recovers from the surgery. Ron is commited to fighting this disease and is actively taking all the steps necessary to get better and continue providing for his family.

Ron's wife, Kirbi, recently had a medical scare as well. She discovered a few lumps on her back and leg which were removed not long ago, but still has a follow up surgery to go. Thankfully, the tests on these cysts came back as benign, but has certainly added to their medical bills and hindered her ability to care for her recovering husband and children. Kirbi's bravery and defiance to not let these hardships and past tragedies break their family apart is nothing short of inspiring.

Please help support the Pembertons during this very difficult period in their lives. Your financial generosity will definitely be used to help pay for medical bills and living expenses while they concentrate on getting healthy. Anything you can give will be greatly appreciated beyond what can be adequately expressed here. As a friend of the family, I will be sure to keep you updated on the Pemberton's progress as we fight this disease together!
