Help Lucy Lu Recover

Anybody in my life knows that Lucy Lu is my world and has been by my side for the last ten years. She has been with me through some of the most difficult times in my life, countless airplane and car rides, and moved with me to the United States from Costa Rica to start a life with my husband Brian. Like most people, Brian fell in love with her really fast and noticed her resilience and strength, joking that it is because she is a Costa Rican street dog. Lucy has always been there for us and now we need to be there for Lucy.
Lucy underwent surgery this spring to remove her gallbladder before it burst due to mucocele covering the organ. Unfortunately, her recovery was very complex and ten days later she had to have a second lifesaving surgery after she became septic. She spent a whole week in the ICU. Lucy is strong and made a recovery to her normal self.
Six weeks later, Lucy is in the ICU again and fighting for her life. After three days of testing, the vets discovered a bacterial cyst on her liver. She has been in the ICU for five days trying to fight the infection.
Lucy is a part of our family and we want to do everything that we can for her. Her initial emergency surgeries and ICU care to fight her infection was more than we could have ever budgeted for, at $8100. And now, just four days in the ICU again is over $4000. Of course, we don't want the cost to be a reason she doesn't get the care she needs to recover.
Since letting our friends know about Lucy being in the ICU again, they ask "what I can do to help?” It's a really hard for us to say this, but right now the best way to help is with our medical bills, praying every night for us, and sending good energy and thoughts.
We are determined to give Lucy the best care so she is able to recover and come home. Thank you for to everyone who has reached out. All the support and sympathy has been amazing.
