On Saturday, January 20, Joanna Truedsson and her daughters Samantha Truedsson (Sam) and Amanda Denton lost their husband/father Gilbert N. Truedsson to a tragic accident while he went for a ride on his bike, the thing he loved to do most.

As a friend and member of Sam's team at work, I know just how close Sam was to both her mom and dad and how she often took those bike rides with her dad. I was deeply devastated to hear the news of the tragedy. My heart has been heavy since I heard the news and I thought to channel the sadness into something positive.

I wasn't sure if setting up this page was the right thing to do, but after discussing with some of her closest friends I decided to take a leap of faith. It comes from a good place. Having retired and aging parents myself who are also on a fixed income, in today's economy it hit close to home. I know all too well how financially difficult the simple day to day tasks are for our retired parents, let alone how burdensome things get when the unexpected happens.
