Update on Jeremy Johnson

As some of you may know, my brother, Jeremy, was involved in an accident on December 1st that has unfortunately resulted in him being quadriplegic. With severe spinal cord injuries affecting his diaphragm and chest muscles, Jeremy hasn’t been able to breathe on his own and currently requires ventilation to breathe. For about 2 weeks, he was under sedation to enhance his lung capability with machines.
We have faced many complications this month with life support, infections, fevers, etc. As of today, he is still in the ICU. He has a tracheostomy and is still ventilated, but he is finally awake and trying to communicate with us. Since he is on a ventilation machine, he is unable to speak with vocal cords. Therefore, we are able to communicate by reading his lips.
We are taking it day by day and hoping that we will soon be able to leave the ICU and into a normal hospital room once he shows more progress. Eventually, he will be transferred to a rehab facility to hopefully try to regain some muscle control.
Jeremy is 30 years old with so much more life to live. It will take a while to get used to this new “normal” but God is a miracle worker and we are praying he works wonders with Jeremy’s progress.
We have a long road ahead and my family would appreciate any support to help with medical bills and rehab costs.
