Over the last two months, I have spent an insane amount on medical bills and medications concerning my finger injury and subsequent surgery. Now, facing a diagnosis of RSD/CRPS, I am facing even more. I already have the monthly costs involved with my Diabetes, high blood pressure, and auto immune issues, and this just pushes me past what we can handle. With only one of us in the household working, we are really struggling right now. (plus we have 2 kids, and Christmas is next month- yikes!)
For any that do not know, I stabbed myself on accident with a straight blade in September of this year. 3 hospitalizations, a surgery, and over 20 doctor visits and therapy sessions later, I have been referred to a specialist who is confirming a diagnosis of RSD (Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy disorder). I also have circulation issues to the finger tip that are preventing the dry gangrene from healing and am looking at a rather expensive test (arteriogram) as well as at least one, if not more, surgeries to correct the tissue loss that is occurring. There is still a very real chance I may lose my finger. Also, to provide some degree of the severe pain I have been in, I go in for the first of a series of sympathetic nerve blocks, requiring hospitalization sedation,next Tuesday. Each procedure is $493.00.
