Help Cristian Fight Brain Cancer

Donation protected
In September of 2021, Cristian Roman was diagnosed with stage 3  testicular cancer. He had multiple surgeries, went through many rounds of chemo therapy and was eventually pronounced cured on March 22 2022. On March 30, he returned to Utah’s Huntsman Cancer Institute in a state of cognitive distress where he was evaluated and treated for what his oncologist identified as “severe dehydration”.

One day later, Cristian and his 12 year old daughter Sophie, took a long awaited trip to Providence, Rhode Island after waiting 2 years to meet his only nephew who was born during the start of the global pandemic in 2020. Upon his arrival, his sister and family immediately noticed that something was horribly wrong beyond his recently reported “dehydration”. It was clear that something was inhibiting his most basic cognitive abilities. Within only a few hours he was rushed to the hospital where it was found that the cancer that was supposedly “cured” just a few weeks earlier - had metastasized to his brain. He was now clinging to life with 2 massive tumors on his brain incapacitating most of his autonomic nervous functions, cognitive abilities and leaving him unable to move his entire left side.

He was rushed into surgery on April 3 2022 and the largest, potentially fatal tumor was removed successfully. After remaining in Providence, on April 27 2022, just a few weeks later the second tumor was also successfully removed. Though they were able to remove the fatal and immediate threat, there’s still a long road ahead with multiple modalities of treatment, such as radiation and chemo therapies followed by stem cell treatment in Utah.

This last month of being in a state away from home and needing intensive medical treatment has financially incapacitated Cristian and his family.  We’re seeking help to keep Cristian afloat through this difficult year of treatment back in Utah. Any funds will cover his rent and basic expenses during the time that he’s in treatment. Currently these expenses are beyond what Cristian can manage. Despite efforts to utilize governmental assistance programs, Cristian unfortunately has not qualified for disability through the state of Utah, so this is our last attempt to receive help for his care.

We are attempting to raise funds for what is guaranteed to be the fight of his life. We hope that with our collective efforts we can help him and his daughter keep some semblance of family normalcy during this challenging time.
