First of all I would like to thank each and everyone of you that are willing to listen to my story and willing to help in any way that you can. I am a single mother of three battling breast cancer. I was diagnosed in 2006 with DCIS, at such a very young age, then later diagnosed in 2010 with triple negative breast cancer that followed chemotherapy and radation. Battling cancer for over 8 years now, I currently just had a double mastectomy and during recovery found out that I have a mass that that's beneath my breast bone, which now requires an additonal surgery.
Now starting chemotherapy AGAIN for the third time with radation to follow, I was denied disability, been out of work for two months, depleting all of my savings, along with my pto and sick leave at work.....sacrificing with only one income and with little to NO help....from state agencies, churches and programs in our area, I was forced to have my doctor release me back to work as the fight aganist cancer is expensive, medical bills, along with household bills are piling up. I'm so far behind in medical expenses and bills I can not afford to manage even the smallest things my children need. I have a son who's 14 and in need of tutoring with reading, but again trying to fight cancer, weekly copayments, medications, along with trying to maintain my household, I can not afford the tutoring that he REALLY needs.
I just recently developed lymphedema in my right arm and insurance does not cover the arm sleeve. I have two upcoming surgeries, one for more reconstruction and another to have a substernal mass removed, which requires more money, and for me to be out of work again. I really shouldnt be at work, however missing just one day or a few hours in a pay period hurts my children and I. I try to make it at least four days a week even after chemo, but it seems the more I force myself the weaker I feel. I like to think that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me, but even the strongest people have to take a seat and just let God have is way. I keep telling my children I may be fighting for my life right now, but I like to think I've already won, as all three of them are watching my every move throughout this battle!!!
