CSM (Ret) Michael Moore, Rebuilding

Hurricane Irma was a disaster for many, including my brother Command Sergeant Major Michael Moore, Retired, call sign Moose, SCA persona, Sir Forgal, and one of the finest men I know.

On Monday, September 11, after the storm, Black Creek in Middleburg, Florida, outside of Jacksonville, flooded and sent water cascading into his home.  In just a few hours, despite all preparation, there was over a foot of water in the house and it stayed for days.

Possessions were destroyed, memories were obliterated, and this man, who spent 30 years serving this country as a member of Special Forces in violent foreign lands and has been a stalwart defender of many, saw his life ravaged by an enemy who could not fight or defeat.

Furniture, appliances, tools, vehicles, and the house itself were inundated.  Nearly everything will have to be replaced, after the house is stripped to the studs and dried out.

If you know Mike, you know he does not like to ask for help.  If you know his friends and family, you know we won’t let that stop us.  I’m asking for help for my brother.

If you can spare any amount, it is appreciated.  If you can share this to a wider audience, it is appreciated.  If you have a kind word or fond memory, share it here and let my brother and others know what a selfless and humble man he is.

We will get him through this, you can make that journey easer.

Thank you for your time and kind thoughts.
