This fund to help the most loving couple I know. On February 2, 2018, Dan and Kathy Knapp, along with their twins drove from Ontario to Florida for a family vacation. They haven't been on a vacation together in years, as one of their son's - Benjamin - has special needs. In addition to having autism, Ben has had brain cancer twice, at 3 and 4 years of age. Since that time, he is non-verbal and has had varying medical issues. For the past few years, his health has been fairly stable.
On Monday, February 5, 2018, their holiday had a sudden turn of events. Benjamin was admitted to a
Florida hospital ICU with sepsis/diabetic acidosis. (He’s not a diabetic). He wasn’t feeling well last week. They thought it was viral as they all had had the "flu", and he wasn’t severely ill. He deteriorated significantly after being in Florida for a couple of days.
They still don’t have a lot of answers as they rule out issues as they arise. He is still quite unstable.
As a family, they believe in the power of prayer.
PLEASE PRAY. For Ben's healing. For insurance to cover the medical costs fully. For their family as they go day by day without a plan. For strength as Dan and Kathy as they take turns at the hospital. For Connor whose been a real trooper during this crisis.
Dan and Kathy were planning on returning to Ontario on Friday, February 9th, however, that will not happen, as Ben can't be moved. As such, they have many unexpected expenses - logding, food, vehicle, on top of the medical expenses that may or may not be covered with their insurance.
