My name is Alexandra, I’m a 25 year old photographer and cinematographer. I have been traveling the United States with my two best friends, Winston (another human & photographer) and Rocko (my dog) in our camper for the past few months, sharing our journey and meeting tons of amazing people along the way.
Though we have had many ups, there has also been downs, and on Monday, February 26th, we faced our biggest down.
While in San Francisco to attend a meet up, and after being rejected from all secured parking options due to having a camper, we returned to find that our car had been broken into. Both our cameras, almost all our lenses, a laptop and external hard drive were stolen. Years of hard work to acquire camera equipment, and our entire livelihood, is gone.
We are trying to remain positive, looking for the silver lining in the situation, but after finding out that my insurance will cover none of the damage (my deductible is higher then the cost of repair) and that stolen items are not covered, we aren’t sure what to do next.
We won’t be able to get back the sentimental value of some of the items taken, nor the photos that were lost, but through this we hope to be able to replace some of the camera equipment that was lost so we can countinue to live our dream, sharing our travels & the beautiful locations that we visit.
