Het Zuid – Italiaanse Calabrië heeft een groot zwerfhondenprobleem. Het echtpaar Raffaele Ragona en Claudia Costa Masser zijn, in samenwerking met hun team vrijwilligers, voor deze honden al vele jaren  een veilige haven.

Het asiel opent niet alleen haar deuren voor jonge, mooie en sociale honden. Oude, angstige, verwaarloosde, zieke, gehandicapte of aangereden honden, worden er ook met liefde opgevangen en verzorgd.

Voor duizenden honden vormt het asiel La Zampa Nel Cuore, het begin van een prachtig hondenleven. Niet alleen in Italië, maar ook in Duitsland, Zwitserland, Oostenrijk, België en Nederland.

Vanwege het grote aantal honden in de opvang, heeft het asiel meerdere locaties.  Oasi (de grootste locatie) dreigt binnenkort te worden gesloten. Volgens de Gemeente en de dierenpolitie voldoet het niet aan de wettelijke eisen. Dit houdt in dat er een grondige verbouwing moet plaatsvinden om sluiting te voorkomen. Een architect heeft hiervoor een mooi projectplan uitgewerkt.

De noodzaak om Oasi open te houden en honden te blijven redden, is er. Alleen de financiën hiervoor ontbreken. Om aan de wettelijke eisen van de Gemeente te voldoen, is een bedrag nodig van  € 30.000,-.

Het redden van honden uit moeilijke omstandigheden is al zwaar. Dit belangrijke werk wordt voor de vrijwilligers nu nog moeilijker gemaakt.

Southern Italian Calabria has a major stray dog problem. The couple Raffaele Ragona and Claudia Costa Masser, together with their team of volunteers, have been a safe haven for these dogs for many years.

The shelter does not only open its doors to young, beautiful and socialized dogs. Old, fearful, neglected, sick, handicapped or knocked-down dogs are also lovingly brought in and taken care of.

For thousands of dogs, the shelter La Zampa Nel Cuore is the beginning of a wonderful dog life. Not only in Italy, but also in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium and the Netherlands.

Due to the large number of dogs in the shelter, the shelter has several locations. Oasi (the largest location) is in danger of being closed soon. According to the Municipality and the animal police, it does not meet the legal requirements. This means that a thorough renovation must take place to prevent closure. An architect has developed a nice project plan for this.

The need to keep Oasi open and continue their work for the rescue dogs is there. Only the finances for this are lacking.

To meet the legal requirements of the Municipality, an amount of € 30.000,- is required.

Rescuing dogs from difficult circumstances is already hard. This important work is now made even more difficult for the volunteers.

Il randagismo canino è un fenomeno fortemente accentuato in Calabria. La coppia Raffaele Ragona e Claudia Costa, insieme con una squadra di volontari, ha accolto per molti anni questi cani all’interno dei propri rifugi. I quali aprono le proprie porte non soltanto ai cani più giovani, in forze e socievoli, ma anche e soprattutto a quelli più vecchi, deboli e con problemi fisici.

Per migliaia di cani, il progetto “La Zampa Nel Cuore” costituisce la salvezza da una vita in strada, fatta di stenti e pericoli. Il servizio di accoglienza è attivo non solo in Italia, ma anche in Germania, Svizzera, Austria, Belgio e Paesi Bassi.

Per via del numero cospicuo di cani all’interno dei rifugi, l’accoglienza si disloca in diverse sedi. Oasi (la sede più capiente) è correntemente a rischio di chiusura. Secondo la Municipalità e la Guardia Zoofila locale, il rifugio non sarebbe a norma di legge. Questo significa che al fine di impedirne la chiusura, il rifugio ha impellente bisogno di ristrutturazione. A tal fine, un architetto ha già ideato un progetto molto innovativo.

E’ chiaro a tutti che Oasi ha bisogno di rimanere aperta, per continuare a salvare le vite di questi cani abbandonati. Tutto ciò di cui necessita sono i mezzi economici per farlo.
