Greetings
everyone! My committee and I have created this website because I need your
help. In June 2008 after working 28 plus
years at the same California State University (CSU) in various positions, I was
called into the office by a new supervisor and told, "the president can no longer use your services." To say I was
in shock would be a gross understatement.
Three years
later, I was once again faced with another life changing. I was
diagnosed with breast cancer. I had to undergo two surgeries, chemo therapy and
radiation treatments. I continued to
look for employment, although my cancer treatment made it difficult. As of today, I'm blessed to say I am healed
and cancer free.
However, the
decision to terminate me happened right at the beginning of the economic downturn. As a result, it was very difficult for me to
find comparable employment based on my education, years of experience and
yes:my age. Being without work and going
through a major health crisis exhausted all my savings.
I am
currently faced with appealing the verdict of my wrongful termination lawsuit. At the end of a five week trial, I lost my
case. Once again I was devastated.
Thankfully, there
is an appeal process. This is a good
thing! The original attorneys took my
case on a on a contingency basis. Filing
an appeal is different and requires paying attorneys and court costs up front. (I
am sure you have heard that the court system has changed significantly. As a result many of the costs have been
shifted on to the Plaintiff.) It is estimated
that the appeal will cost between $75,000.00 to $100,000.
It would be
greatly appreciated if you would help me raise the needed money for my appeal. I realize that I am just one person. However, for those of you who know me, you
understand that I am not a quitter! After
all I have been through I am still here fighting. By raising the money needed for my appeal I
can level the playing field and let the powers that be
know that they cannot treat people this way.
I am asking
that you do two simple things. First,
