Helps us sponsor one of our 2014 Summer Season Shows, "Closer Than Ever". With the recent passing of our former Managing Director Gerry Peters, Canterbury Summer Theatre, which is put on by the Festival Players Guild, has been in dire straits to survive. This year we are changing to a sponsorship format to help put the shows on. The hope is to raise enough money here to take care of our big musical of the summer "Closer Than Ever".
Here is little bit about the show:
In this brilliant companion to their hit revue STARTING HERE, STARTING NOW, Richard Maltby, Jr. and David Shire follow up their earlier "songs of innocence" with twenty-four funny, wise and witty "songs of experience."
As with their earlier revue, each song in CLOSER THAN EVER is a story: an intimate, insightful tale about love, security, happiness-and holding onto them in a world that pulls you in a hundred directions at once. Maltby and Shire bring their celebrated craft and contemporary sensibility to songs about aging, mid-life crisis, second marriages, and role reversals with parents, as well as wicked satirical jabs at Muzak, working couples and unrequited love. Included are several songs that were cut from the acclaimed BABY. - See more at: http://www.mtishows.com/show_detail.asp?showid=000110#sthash.24AQ1yV6.dpuf
