Rick Thomas' Fund
We reach out to you all to share the
story of a man -- a man who is a father, husband, son, brother, uncle, nephew,
cousin, friend and colleague. We are talking about our dear Ricky -- one
of the nicest, most giving and hilarious people you'd ever meet.
Rick Thomas' life was suddenly interrupted this year due to a very rare form of kidney cancer. Though we all thought Rick was successful in defeating his battle with cancer when the kidney and tumor were surgically removed, we learned that his cancer returned and, unfortunately, metastasized in the most aggressive way:and very quickly. This came as a shock to him and to all of us in his family. Devastating, to say the least.
While the cancer is aggressive and rare, there's still hope that Rick will beat this thing, but it will take patience, time, many trials and tribulations...and financial support. The reality of Rick's situation is that current medical treatment for his condition is temporary and non curative. It will eventually, and absolutely stop working at some time in the future. At that point, which could come sooner rather than later, Rick's only option is to try a very aggressive and expensive last resort medication protocol that is not covered by medical insurance.
With his current rising medical costs and the eventuality that he will need extensive funds to cover the last resort treatment, we want to help Rick, Suzette & their three small children. We encourage you to pull together to help his family by contributing to our fundraiser to assist with the many financial burdens that arise under these circumstances. We want to do everything possible to give him a shot at life and the chance to raise his young family.
