Help Jabulani Orphanage

My brother is the most generous living being I have ever met. Chanda is his name, a young man that strives for the best for others. It is true to say that he has dedicated his life to others. I am currently setting up this page to help him raise money.

Chanda has worked for Jabulani Children’s Village, an Orphanage for 13 years. Jabulani has always been a self sufficient Orphanage, setting up a Sawmill, which has the capacity to process 1200 cubic meters a month. The Sawmill facilitates the daily operation of the Orphanage, whilst creating jobs for the local community. Recently, the raw material supplier reduced Jabulani’s allocation to 35 cubic meters, dramatically reducing the operations of the orphanage, and making it impossible for them to pay back the loan that had been taken out to set up a board factory as part of its operations. The orphanage is currently at risk of closure, putting the children and village residents in a precarious situation.

Jabulani Village is a non-profit organization established in 1998, which takes care of orphans and vulnerable children aged between 2 and 18 in Ndola, Zambia. The children’s village which currently cares for 26 children (with a capacity of 48), ensures that orphans are placed in a family setting with a mother and helper. It not only cares for orphans, but also provides employment to local people who depend on the organization to support their families and contribute to the reduction of poverty in the nation. The aim of Jabulani children’s village is to educate, equip and empower orphans, vulnerable children and widows in Zambia to give them hope and a future.

My brother and his small team have since taken the responsibility of taking care of the Orphans. This involves providing for their everyday needs such as “Feeding, clothing and educating them. We are looking to raise at a minimum £300,000 to enable the current team working at Jabulani to purchase the land and continue running the orphanage and community activities.

My Favourite African proverb is “it takes a village to educate a child”. I am calling the global community to be part of this “Village”. This is Aid with a Difference; this is helping a community that is already helping themselves.

I have heard so much about “GoFundMe” and as a mother and a global citizen I feel, I owe it to these children to at least try. I am asking the global village for funding to continue the amazing work.

The lack of funding has meant that the orphanage can no longer support additional orphans, this means a number of children can longer be supported. I believe no child is a mistake; every child has a purpose and should be given an opportunity to realise their opportunities regardless of their background and upbringing.

As an individual this is a large sum of money but as a global community this amounts to at least 300,000 people each giving £1.
I am therefore looking for 300,000 people to help us.
