My friends Helen and Hamin Kim are current international students at UNCG (University of North Carolina at Greensboro). Helen is double majoring in Flute performance and Music Education, and Hamin is double majoring in Cello performance and Music Education. However, due to unpredicted forces, they are now having financial problems. 

저의 친구 김하은과 김하민은 현재 UNCG(University of North Carolina at Greensboro)의 국제학생입니다. 김하은은 현재 플룻연주와 음악교육을 복수전공하고, 김하민은 첼로연주와 음악교육을 복수전공 하고 있습니다. 그러나 예기치 않았던 문제들로 인해 그들은 지금 경제적 문제들을 갖고 있습니다.


Because they are international students, they are unable to work or receive government aid and most scholarships (no social security number).
하은이와 하민이가 국제학생이기 때문에, 정부에서 주는 지원금과 대부분의 장학금을 받지 못합니다. (소셜시큐리티 번호가 없기 때문입니다.)

However, the worst part is, because they are on a student visa, if they do not continue to attend school, they will be deported back to South Korea and become separated from the rest of their family. Helen will soon turn 21 and will be considered independent which means that a change of visa for the family after her birthday will have no affect on her.
She must continue to attend school for another 3 years before she can change her visa once again.

그러나, 더 좋지 않은 사실은 그들이 학생비자로 미국에서 공부를 하기 때문에, 학교를 다니지 않으면 한국으로 다시 돌아가야 하고 가족들과도 떨어져야 합니다. 하은이는 곧 21살이 됩니다. 21살이 되는 생일이 지나면 독립적으로 여겨지게 되는데, 그렇게 되면 가족들의 신분이 바뀌어도 하은이에게는 영향이 미치지 않게됩니다.

They have 2 more siblings and are children to Reverend Jinho Kim.

Their family has submitted their lives to missionary work and raising future missionaries. Their family has a wide extent in musical knowledge. Rev. Jinho Kim had visited to many countries such as Canada, Japan, and China. He had served several churches as a music pastor and had gone on many missionary trips. He graduated from Christ for the Nation in Dallas Texas and is now going for his Doctorate in ministry at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Now, he is ministring as a representative of Mission and Praise Yegreen and a conductor of Fayetteville International Youth Symphony and Fayetteville Korean Orchestra. Also, he works as a Bible teacher and associate band director of Northwood Temple Academy. He dedicated his life and family to praising God. He taught his four children in music, and each of them learned several instruments. They were well-trained, and now Helen and Hamin both dedicate their lives in praising God.

They have helped their father, Rev. Jinho Kim, with his ministry ever since we started to play instruments as young children. By joining church ensembles, they helped train worship teams of small local churches and the Chinese students' ministry in South Korea. They were also on the worship staff during their summer camps and winter vacations. They had a special interest in this mission, so Helen went on a mission trip to Vietnam with the King's Kids Choir group when she was only seven years old. Also, when she was in the 7th grade, she went to Japan for a praise and worship conference with a professional singing group called Jesus Fragrances. In addition, she gave free lessons to people who were in a hard situation, such as missionaries, missionary's kids, as well as Chinese international students in Korea. 


그들은 김진호목사님의 목회를 그들이 처음 악기를 시작했을 때부터 도왔습니다. 교회 앙상블을 합류하면서, 그들은 조그만한 지역교회의 찬양팀 육성과 한국의 중국인 유학생들의 사역을 도왔습니다. 또한 그들은 여름과 겨울 찬양 캠프의 워십 스태프로써도 함께하였습니다. 그들은 선교에 특별한 관심이 있어, 하은이는 7살의 어린나이때부터 예수전도단 킹스키즈에 합류하여 베트남에 다녀왔습니다. 또한, 중학교 1학년 때에는, 예수향기라는 프로성악중창단과 함께 일본에 찬양과 예배 컨퍼런스를 위해 다녀왔습니다. 덧붙여, 그녀는 힘든 상황에 있는 선교사들과 그들의 자녀, 그리고 한국의 중국유학생들 등에게 무료로 레슨을 해주었습니다.


After they moved to the States, they visited and praised many diverse cultural churches such as Mexican, Romanian, and Kenyan churches. While they stayed at Christ for the Nations in Dallas, Texas, they taught music to the children of ministers and missionaries for free. They also helped to provide food to poor international students through restaurant and grocery store donations.

While staying in Fayetteville, NC, they found out that there was no full youth symphonic orchestra in Fayetteville. Therefore, they organized The Fayetteville International Youth Symphony in order to provide students with more musical opportunities and experiences. They started with 20 members, but the orchestra has expanded to 60 members, and are now able to spread the gospel more efficiently through this orchestra. They also give free lessons to the members who cannot afford them due to financial or personal situations.

Helen is involved in church actively. She was a president of a youth group for 3 years and had served as a worship leader for four years. Also, she served as an arranger and orchestrater for a church ensemble, and had arranged and orchestrated more than 50 songs. Now, she is also serving as an arranger and worship leader and assistant administrator of Mission and Praise Yegreen (translated to: The Forest of Praise). She is also the artistic director of the newly established Fayetteville International Youth Symphony established by their family.

하은이는 교회활동에 적극적으로 속해있습니다. 그녀는 3년동안 중고등부 회장이었으며 4년동안 중고등부 찬양팀 리더로써 섬겼습니다. 또한, 그녀는 교회 앙상블의 편곡자와 오케스트레이터로써 섬겼으며 50ê°œ 이상의 곡을 편곡하거나 오케스트레이트를 하였습니다. 현재, 그녀는 편곡자와 찬양인도자, 그리고 ë³´ì¡° 행정관리자로써 예그린(예수그리스도인 이라는 뜻을 가진 찬양그룹)을 섬기고 있습니다. 그녀는 또한 그들의 가족과 함께 새로 창단한 페잇빌국제청소년심포니의 ì˜ˆìˆ ë””렉터입니다.

2.       Placed 1st chair in 2010-2011 All County Band (Cumberland County)

3.       Placed 1st chair for All District Band

4.       Placed 1st chair in 2011 Carolina Band Festival

5.       Awarded 1st place in the 2011 Raleigh Area Flute Association Competition


Hamin has served in his dad's ministry as a worship leader, cello player, teaching kids, and now, he is serving as the executive director of Fayetteville International Youth Symphony and Fayetteville Korean Orchestra.

3.       Assistant Principle Cellist in the 2010, 2011, and 2012 Eastern North Carolina All-State Orchestra

4.       Assistant Principle Cellist in the 2010 and 2011 North Carolina Honors Orchestra

5.       Principle Cellist in the 1st Southeast United States String Orchestra (Held on the UNCGreensboro campus)

6.       Placed 7th chair in 2011 Music Educator's National Conference All Honors National Orchestra at Kennedy Hall in Washington DC (and also received a $1000 participation scholarship from the Cumberland County School System)

7.       Received the Minerva Music Scholarship of $33,000 from UNCGreensboro, and was selected for a program to use a cello valued at over $30,000 that was made by prestigious cello maker Marten Cornelissen, and formerly owned by the Greenhouse Quartet


 The reason why they started to play instruments was in order to praise God with their lives. From a very young age, they have prayed and dedicated their entire lives to praising God and giving Him glory. 

그들이 악기를 처음 시작한 이유는 하나님을 그들의 삶을 통해 찬양하기 위해서 였습니다. 아주 어릴 때부터, 그들은 그들의 삶이 하나님을 찬양하고 그에게 영광돌리는데 쓰일수 있도록 기도하고 헌신하였습니다.

"While I traveled with my father as a translator to help his ministry, I have seen and experienced many miracles with my own eyes. I hope that a miracle can happen for my family too. I cannot stop the most important thing, which is God's work, over a small thing like our family's financial hardships. If God does not want me to attend school and wants me to do something else for Him, I have no choice. However,  I will not stop everything to just sit down and wait. My family has to move forward and declare the Lord's name, because that is the last commission Jesus gave to us." -Helen

The deadline to turn in the money for this semester is October 30th and it will be the last for this semester. If the debt is not payed until then, then everything that they have worked for this semester will be in vain and they will eventually be deported back to South Korea. 
이 금액을 내야하는 마감 날짜는 10월 30일이며 이것이 이번 학기에 마지막으로 내는 등록금이 될 것입니다. 이때까지 내지 않으면 그들이 이번학기동안 노력했던 것들은 아무것도 아니게 될 것이며 한국으로 추방당하게 될 것입니다.

Our initial goal is to reach $6511.40 which will be enough to cover the debt and continue this fall 2012's semester.
우리의 첫번째 목표는 2012년도 가을 학기를 계속 할수 있도록 이번학기 등록금 잔액인 $6511.40입니다.

As for the coming spring semester, they must come up with $20,500. If they pay through SallieMae, this will amount to $4100 for 5 months starting from November. 

Their family just needs the time to get back on their feet. Once they change their visa, both Helen and Hamin will be able to pay In-state tuition instead of the current Out-of-state tuition and their financial problem will be resolved. 

봄학기가 다가오면서, 그들은 $20,500을 또 내야합니다. 만약 그들이 SallieMae라는 프로그램을 사용하면 이 금액을 한달에 $4100씩 분납하여 11월을 시작으로 5개월동안 낼 수 있습니다. 그들의 가족은 다시 일어설수 있는 시간이 필요합니다. 그들의 신분상태가 해결되어 out-of-state 학비 대신 in-state-tuition을 낼 수 있게 되면 그들의 경제적 어려움은 해결될 것입니다.


There is only 7 days left before the deadline but we believe that God can move hearts and that through God's grace, nothing is impossible. 

마감일 까지 7일이라는 짧은 시간밖에 남지 않았지만, 우리는 하나님께서는 하나님의 은혜를 통해 마음을 움직이실줄 믿고 그분에게는 아무것도 불가능하지 않다는 것을 믿습니다.
