Heather's liver transplant expenses

Donation protected

To begin,
Heather was born with a rare liver disease that has caused her issues her entire life.  We have always known she will have to receive a liver transplant, and now the time has come. She is the best person I know hands down. She did not ask for the issues she has in any way- she just drew a bad hand in life. That aside, she is extremely strong and optimistic regardless of her condition and obstacles. She has never let any of her many, many surgeries, or diagnoses stop her. She accepts each obstacle thrown her way with grace and dignitiy. She is about to take the biggest step yet in her journey and needs help any way you can.

How you can help
The purpose of this go fund me is to help my sister with her expenses before, during, and after her liver transplant. She is currently listed to receive a transplant any day now. While her actual costs of the surgery will be covered by insurance, there are still a lot of things being left up to her, and her very hard working fiancee to take care of.  She has to move within a certain distance of the hospital she will be getting the transplant done, per their requirements. While understandable, this was completely unexpected and has to happen extremely fast due to her health. On top of this, she will need around the clock care by someone immediately after the surgery. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. Any amount you can donate will be greatly appreciated! If you can't donate, you can help by registering to be a organ donor. This way you may be able to help someone  like her in the biggest way one day!

A little about her Diagnosis
Heather was born with a rare liver condition that was originally diagnosed as "Byler Syndrome". Years later the Doctors just described her condition as "PFIC" (progressive familial intrahepatic cholestasis)
The Doctors performed a biliary diversion when she was one yr. old. When Heather was 7 she was diagnosed with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis and received excellent care at Scottish Rite hospital in Dallas.
In 2008, Heather started passing blood at an accelerated rate, and got VERY jaundiced. She was hospitalized. She lost 30lbs during the stay in which the Doctors did everything they could to stop her ulcerative colitis that we never knew she had. On April 29th that year her large intestine was fully removed, and she received an ileostomy. The wound became badly infected since her liver was already compromised from the infection in her intestines. Still, she pulled through. She went a few years doing better, with occasional hospitalizations for dehydration, or illness.
That brings us to now- Suddenly she began showing signs of the end stages of her liver failure. The doctors have been monitoring her and doing labs and they have confirmed that she needs a transplant as soon as possible with a MELD score of 30. So now we are waiting for a donor, and hoping for a fast recovery!

Thank you!
