"Heather's HOPE" for a Miracle

My little sister is fighting Stage 4 Breast cancer. There is no cure and we are praying for a Miracle! She is a fighter and needs our help. Her children Samantha and Collin are her world. She has been Mom and Dad to them since their dad died. With mounting medical and other expenses, all monetary gifts will be a blessing for them at this time. It was one year ago, this month, when I got the heartbreaking news. I had been researching breast cancer on my computer almost every minute after I found out there was a high probability that my sister Heather (Yelding) Plochocki might have breast cancer. As I read and researched, I remember thinking and praying… if she is diagnosed with breast cancer it can’t be Triple Negative. Those were the two words I knew I didn’t want to hear more than anything. The statistics and treatments for this type of breast cancer were not promising at all. Yet, the day came to hear the news, and those were the two very dreaded words I heard… Triple Negative Breast Cancer Stage 3C.
And so, the fight began!!!
Anyone who knows my little sister knows she will not throw down the towel and step out of the ring. She has always been, and always will be a fighter. She will fight for: what she believes in, her children, her family, people she cares about, and anyone she sees being treated unfairly.
She is strong, courageous, and dedicated. She always puts other’s needs ahead of her own. During her treatments, she would come out of chemo and go to her son Collin’s games and all-day tournaments because she could NOT miss one! She would leave to rest in between, if needed, and come back. She refused to have surgery, treatments, or appointments on days that would interfere with his sports. She told them, “I am his mom. His dad died and I always go to all of his games. I'm not going to miss his games!"
Right after being diagnosed, her daughter Samantha had to move out of one college apartment and into another. Heather was right there making sure things were all taken care of for Sam before she had to start her chemo.
This is the kind of mother Heather is. She’s been both mom and dad to Collin and Sam since their dad Jason died in a car accident 10 years ago.
Heather continued working as a nurse during her treatments as long as she possibly could. And, after that, she still wouldn’t sit down and rest. She wants to work and help people. It’s who she is!
After completing 4 months of chemo, a double mastectomy, and the maximum amount of radiation, Heather’s cancer appeared to be in remission. We were overjoyed and hoping the worst was behind her.
Then, only two months later, because of a bad cough, her oncologist ordered an early PET scan and found that her cancer has returned and spread rapidly, now a Stage 4.
She has exhausted all of her financial resources and accumulated a great deal of medical bills already. She now faces chemo every two weeks, which started this week, and costs for a clinical trial if we are able to find one that she is a match for.
