He Isn't In This Alone Medical Donations

On September 18th, 2013 the life of Andy Grove changed drastically. This was no ordinary day. This was the day he was given the news that cancer had developed in his ankle. Andy was diagnosed with stage 2: large B-cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma just before his 24th birthday. For those who do not know lymphoma normally begins in one's lymph nodes (up around the neck area) however in Andy's case his developed in his ankle. The fight with cancer however was not new with Andy. His mother, Linda Kaye, fought the battle against non-Hodgkin's lymphoma as well; however God called her home to his kingdom too early in life.

Andy began chemo treatments as soon as he could. He endures two days of chemo every three weeks. The first day is an all day affair at the West Michigan Cancer Center in which he receives several chemo medications through his port; while the next day he undergoes a spinal tap infusion. While this March he will undergo a week of radiation to cap off his treatments. Through these treatments his doctors are extremely hopeful that he will be completely cured! Praise God!

Andy is a courageous godly man, friend, brother, husband and father. He is married to his wonderful wife, Nina Marie since July 2011 and a loving father to their 13-month-old son, Kody James Alexander. To leave it at just that would be an understatement. Andy is a compassionate hardworking man as well. Through undergoing all of the chemo treatments he maintains a full time job as well. He works 50 hours a week to attempt to provide and take care of his family. His job is working with them in allowing him four days off during his treatment weeks to let him recover from the extensive toll the medicine has on his body. Working in the restaurant business however does not provide a hefty paycheck. Their family only can afford one car, rent for their apartment and basic necessities.

The kicker is that with his job in the restaurant business they can not support their family and afford insurance. Long before this drastic turn of events Andy and Nina had made the conscious decision to forego paying insurance so they could support their family while Nina stayed home with their son otherwise they would not be able to afford rent or basic necessities with the high cost of insurance. Once the news came that Andy was going to battle cancer this sheds a different light. Immediately they applied for Medicaid to aid with the expensive price tag that comes with this battle; however they were denied. Currently, they are attempting to re-apply and see if they will be accepted. So as for now they are responsible for paying out of pocket for all doctor visits, tests and treatments but with their tight paycheck they cannot afford these bills.

This is where you all come in! Currently, they owe approximately $100,000 which is something no young couple should ever have to worry about unless they are buying a house. We are hoping to raise enough money to help put a substantial dent into his medical bills and keep paying their rent and basic necessities while he continues his battle towards being cured! And hopefully then they can afford insurance through work.

Please pray about them and donate what you can to help this wonderful young couple as Andy finishes his treatments! Every little bit helps!

"Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us." ~ Romans 5:1-21
