Recovery from Harvey

My name is Angie Kannada. For a long time, I was Angie Young, and for a long time before that, I was Angie Midkiff.

I know there are so many in need after Harvey.  I don't like to ask for help, but it's sinking in that I'm going to need it.

Harvey flooded my home in Bridge City, TX.  We didn't have insurance on the contents.  My daughter and I (and our precious dog) are safe.  I was able to take our photos and Roxy's artwork and a few clothes.

My boyfriend stayed too long and at the time of this writing, still isn't safe. He has nothing. No ID, no shoes, no clothes.

All of our belongings are gone, but more concerning than that is that we are now homeless.  I am fortunate to still have a job, but we have nowhere to live that won't completely displace the kids from school or prevent me from being able to get to work everyday to keep the income flowing.

We are going to need everything from the ground up, plus hotel rooms, gas, food... Just everything.

I have applied for FEMA assistance, but I don't know what to expect from that...

I hope that FEMA money will secure us a place to live (trailer rent, deposit, etc). But I'm thinking we will need more to replace our appliances, clothing, furniture, food, etc. And we may need money to stay in a motel until we can find a place - there are so many displaced, I'm sure there will be a shortage of available housing in the area.

If we can get housing assistance from Fema I will use this money for 3 beds and clothing for my family, gas to me get to work, and a microwave so we can enjoy some delicious bean and cheese burritos. And so many other things...

We have been living paycheck to paycheck for a while. Please help if you can. I will post more pictures as we are able to go back into the area.
