As most of you know, I'm a single father. My daughter Hailey has been selected for a National Youth Leadership Forum: Law & CSI this summer in Washington D.C. at George Mason University. I'd really like to give her this opportunity but the cost is $1800 and I can not swing it on my own. Asking for money goes against every fiber of my being. I was raised to believe if you couldn't afford it, you didn't get it.
A few years ago, Hailey was selected to attend a program called Duke TIP, which is a scholarship program at Duke University, the cost was $3000. Friends told me to ask for help and I let my pride deny my daughter that opportunity. I do not wish to make that mistake a second time. Hailey is extremely smart and I want her to have the opportunity to push herself by attending forums like this.
