Haines Junction, YT Fruitstand Tornado Mishap

Hi Yukon! If you don’t know me, I’m Ashley Fewer - the moderator of Yukon Helpers Network on Facebook!

I am writing to you today, in light of an incident that took place today in Haines Junction, Yukon: In the afternoon of August 6th, 2020. A small, but powerful dust storm swept up an entire fruit stand (Yukon Fruit Stand) and their whole set-up, including fresh fruit, and any cash that was on-hand (Approx $1000).  

Many community members of Whitehorse, and HJ, have banded together and inquired on ways to help out. This is such an unfortunate disaster, to strike an individual who travels to our communities to deliver fresh fruit! Well, in steps GoFundMe! 

I have approached the family, who was extremely hesitant to accept any help at all, and after a short conversation on how our community wants to assist, the family wants to ensure to pass along, just how grateful they were for the community love. 

Lets show them (Yukon Fruit Stand) what we do best in disaster situations!
