Gettin' the Word Out! about MSA

Donation protected
March 24, 2018, Elite 8 Saturday, the Gettin' the Word Out! event will be held at the Gateway Building on the riverfront in Peoria, IL. There are 2 goals: raise awareness of multiple system atrophy and monies for the Multiple System Atrophy Coalition, a 501(c)3 given the 2016 Top-Rated NonProfit rating by Great NonProfits (http://greatnonprofits.org/org/multiple-system-atrophy-coalition ), to help fund its research grant program. Three former caregivers of MSA patients have organized this fundraiser because they lived a journey with only one ending.

Attendees will view video vignettes of MSA patients and caregivers sharing their stories about this devastating terminal disease and hear from doctors who diagnose and treat these patients.

Entertainment will be provided by college basketball on the big screens and live blues music from two bands as well as a bags competition.  There will be a silent auction online from the first week of March through the day of the event, at which time the auction will go live.

The event includes a dinner prepared and served by Mamma G's Catering with a special contribution from Emack & Bolios. The event will also include a cash bar.

The entertainment for the rest of the evening takes two forms; live blues music and Final Four basketball on the big screen (watching only!). The music will be provided by a central Illinois favorite, the Smokers Blues Band, and a band put together by Steve Gorman, drummer of

the Black Crowes and Trgger Hippy,  He is also the brother of Jim Gorman, a former Division 1 basketball player for the Morgan State Bears and currently on that same terrible MSA journey our spouses traveled. Jim's story can be found at https://www.multiplesystematrophy.org/?s=jim+gorman+story.
.

These musicians are donating their time and talent to this event because they know well the importance of solving this disease so no other person will have to suffer from its devastating effects.

Please consider making a donation. Your dollars will help us raise awareness so individuals are diagnosed earlier and bring additional resources to bear on this death sentence for every person who is diagnosed with it.

Thank you.
