Want to be a part of making a difference internationally in this COVID-19 season, but want to ensure your donation is going somewhere sustainably? So do we!
There are so many countries around the world that are not privileged to have government safety-nets to fall back on in times of crisis. We have been in contact with our various business relationships doing Business for Transformation (B4T) around the world to identify the immediate needs locally.
To give you an example, one B4T practitioner works with local coffee shops and roasting businesses in Sumatra, Indonesia. His goal is to facilitate economic uplift for the island through his clients who are business owners employing local people. They are small family businesses that rely on tourism and an open economy for their livelihoods. With transportation systems shut down and movement of people halted, they find themselves in desperation.
This practitioner has identified 20 said-businesses that are in desperate need. He believes that this is an opportunity for the people on the island to witness the hands and feet of Christ and allow them to make it through this unprecedented time.
And this is where we can make a difference together...
Small business owners like this rely on cash-flow to pay their employees. Most don't even have enough to cover a month or two and are afraid for the families of their employees. By ensuring their income, there can be a downstream impact through their own purchasing power and perhaps even helping others in some way.
We have identified seven B4Ts like this that we want to assist in this way to give their local community a hand up, not a hand out. We see this as a sustainable, viable, scalable and market-driven approach. This will bring much-needed help in their local contexts.
