This GoFund Me is for my family in Tennessee. The funds are needed for my uncles final arrangements and memorial, medical bills and for my Grandmother's care.
My family in Tennessee has endured the unimaginable over the past several months. My cousin, Michael Glanton, died unexpectedly in August at the age of 33 and my Uncle, Bob Glanton, just lost his life on December 1st due to a fatal stroke at the age of 59. This is in addition to my Grandmother's situation which is explained below.
Michael's mother and Bob's wife, my aunt Carol, has been my Grandmother's caregiver for years and over the last 2 years or so, my Grandmother has developed and suffered from dementia. Her condition has rapidly deteriorated in the last several months. In August, she spent several weeks in the hospital for treatment of pneumonia and then was sent to another hospital for violence and instability associated with dementia. Following her hospital stay, she was in a private pay assisted living facility, for just over 2 months. In early November she was sent back to the hospital for dementia treatment since she had become unresponsive to medication and was unable to stay in assisted living. On November 20th her insurance stopped paying and she was sent home but the dementia was/is not stable. After more than a week at home with Carol and Bob, their son Kevin and his wife Jessica, as her primary caregivers, plus many additional friends and Jessica's family, they finally have the assistance of Hospice. Hospice took her into respite care on November 27th. This was supposed to be for 5 days only but they have gotten it extended for another 7 days, thankfully, after Bob's sudden death on December 1st. After these extra days, she will be returned home with some in home assistance from hospice.
My Grandmother needs 24/7 care. This is impossible for 1 person and has taken a toll on all involved. My aunt was doing it the best that she could with some assistance from others but now is grieving not only the loss of her son just 3 months ago but now her husband. Bob supported the family so Carol could provide the care to my Grandmother. Carol has so much to get figured out in the coming days, weeks and months. The financial burden is unbearable and she needs help. Final arrangements for Bob, the medical bills from his 2 short days of tests and life support, additional care for my Grandmother, monthly bills, and the list goes on... Every penny will help.
