School Time is here again! A new school year means hardship for many families who already struggle to feed their children during the summer months when free food programs are unavailable.
While some parents find ways to purchase new backpacks, clothes, socks, underwear, shoes and the long list of supplies for class, others may not even be able to afford basic necessities for their children. What's more, parents who do supply a full list to their child's class realize most of their purchases are being disbursed evenly among classes to cover the children whose parents were unable to provide. Even worse, already over-worked and underpaid teachers often take money from their own household to purchase class supplies for their students!
And don't forget what it's like to be a kid! How humiliating to return to school after summer wearing the same gym shoes and using the same ratty backpack as last year! Children can be quite cruel.
This is the best time of year to purchase inexpensive school items! Please participate in this 3 week campaign to provide 100 children in Collier County with much-needed supplies for school!
