Andre Needs Your Help!

Friends, family and loving community, this adorable boy needs your help!

As many of you know, this past June my cousin Kadesha was involved a serious accident. Her son, Andre, was in the back of the car. We are blessed that they both survived the accident, but they didnt walk away unscathed.

Andre was paralyzed from the waist down. We are holding onto the hope and belief that he will walk again, but the current reality is that he is wheelchair bound. My aunt Karen is taking care of Kadesha (who also sustained significant spinal and head trauma) and Andre in a home that is not handicap accessible. 

Recently, I was catching up with Karen. She shared that Andre had been accepted into a special program that would help with the medical expenses but she was reaching out to various organizations to see if there were any programs that might help her update the downstairs bathroom to make it handicap accessible. She was also wondering if she could build out a room on the first floor or if she should look into installing a lift, as Andre is a growing boy who she wont be able to carry much longer. 

Through everything, Andre has managed to keep a bright outlook. He almost broke my heart when I heard him say, "when they fix my legs, can we..." I continue to believe that Andre will get the chance to walk and run one day but in the meantime, I want to make sure that he is able to safely move around his home.


I decided to try starting a GoFundMe to help Aunt Karen make the needed updates to the house and alleviate some stress, as she has managed this all with such grace.  

I based the goal of $6000 on the pricing I found for the following items:

Chair Lift- $2000
(this run from $1,200 to $15,000)
Alternatively, this may go to fund constructing a room on the 1st floor.

Chair Lift Installation - $500
(this runs from $400-$1000 from what I found)

Handicap Accessible Sink & Install - $1800
(based on my research, the sink alone runs from $300 - $3500)

Handicap Accessible Bath - $1400
(the insert for the shower ranges from $1100 - $2000, without considering installation costs)

Activity Table with Adjustable Height to accomodate a wheelchair - $100
(These range from $80 - $300)

TOTAL - $5800
All my figures are rounded estimates based on my research. I also rounded the goal to $6,000 as I did not factor install into all estimates.
