ADAPTED FITNESS EQUIPMENT NEEDED!

For the past 10 years, Russ Van Ness has worked as an adapted health and physical education teacher for individuals with special needs. He has designed and implemented a variety of programs that promote fitness and allow everyone to experience the benefits of exercise. In September of 2016 Russ combined his passion for fitness with his natural ability to work with special needs populations and created Gifted Fitness.
Gifted Fitness is dedicated to providing unique, adaptive exercise programs to individuals with special needs and their families. There aren't many gyms out there with the knowledge, staff or appropriate equipment to handle the varying needs and abilities of such an underserved population. We currently utilize typical gym equipment and adapt it to the best of our ability to meet the needs of our clients.
Almost all of our clients see the typical treadmills, stationary bikes and elipticals and want to try them. Due to the lack of adaptability, seating options and safety straps, our clients are unable to use these pieces.
Gifted Fitness will utilize funds to purchase adapted fitness equipment to be able to offer more exercise options to more people. These funds will allow our clients access to equipment such as eliptical trainers, stationary bikes, rowers, and treadmills that are safe, appropriate and allow access while in a wheelchair. This equipment is extremely expensive and that is why we need your help!
The next time one of our amazing clients requests the eliptical, we want to be able to say yes! Many of our clients ride adapted bikes or walk in adapted walkers but that equipment is bulky and very hard to transport. With this equipment our clients will be able to practice their pedaling safely and when it's cold, raining or snowing our clients can still get up on their feet and walk.
