Gibson MS Robotics Championship

We are a Title I school, and we have been competing in VEX robotics for the last three years. We have competed mainly against high school teams, and in prior years, we have advanced to the state finals as an alliance with high school teams. This year, we had the opportunity to compete with only middle schools in Nevada. Our four teams, 11462A, 11462B, 11462C, 11462D, made it through the qualification matches with the rankings of third, fifth, seventh and seventeenth. This allowed us to pair up with teams from Johnson Middle School's robotics team to compete in the Nevada State Middle School Championship Finals. As a team, we were very focused; however, the competition was intense and stressful, especially in the semi-final matches. We were placed against another team from our school, and we ended the match 2-1, allowing us to move on to the State Finals. In the finals, we went 2-1 and took the honor of being the first Nevada State Tournament Champion teams for Middle School, crystallizing our spot in the World Championship. Much to our surprise, we were also awarded the highest-ranking honor that a Middle School can earn in VEX robotics competition, The Excellence Award.
Since the competition, we have been busily planning for our trip to the world event, which will be held in Louisville, Kentucky on April 25th to 28th, and we are hoping to send our team of seven students, their coach, and one school administrator. The following are some tentative costs for this trip:
Competition Registration: $975
Airfare: ~$440 round trip (Total: ~$3,960)
Hotel/4 rooms: ~$220 per room/5 nights (Total: ~$4,400)
Tournament Team Party/Food/Team Events: ~$280 per person (Total: ~$2,520)
Equipment and Miscellaneous Expenses: ~$1,145
An estimate of the total cost for the trip is ~$13,000, or about $1,444 per person. As a Title I school, we serve diverse families, and cannot afford the high cost of this event. Consequently, we are working on our end to raise funds and offset what we can. Any assistance that you or your organization could provide would be amazing!
Thank you so much for helping us make this trip possible for our team!
