Help Rob get back on his feet

On February 28 our family was devastated to learn that Rob, my sister's beautiful son and my God son, received a severe head injury in a motorcycle accident. Miraculously, despite the multiple injuries to his skull, he is showing signs that make us hopeful. It's early yet, and he's not out of the woods, but we are very hopeful At first he wiggled his left toes when asked. Then he was moving the whole left leg. He is not speaking yet, but is communicating with hand squeezes and very obvious facial expressions. Today he managed to voluntarily move his right leg a little bit!

After the accident, Rob's mother Susan quickly uprooted, leaving her job and moving from Maryland to San Diego to care for Rob. Susan has showed unflagging courage and grace as all alone she has handled daunting decisions regarding her son's care. I have always admired her grit, but am witnessing a whole new level of toughness and focus in her during this terrifying time.

We're not sure how long Rob's recovery will take, but Susan needs to stay at his side caring for him, making sure every step of the way he has exactly what he needs to bring back his health and mobility. When Rob is stable enough, he will move to a rehab facility for quite a long time, we're told. In the meanwhile, Rob's sister is clearing out his apartment and figuring out what to do with his things. Rob's giant dog, Harvey, will be moved by family back east for the time being. All this is, of course, involves unplanned for expenses. We could really use your help covering costs, so if you are moved to, please make a donation. Any amount would be welcome.

Rob is 27, with a big, sweet heart and in excellent physical shape. We have so much confidence and faith that with support he can make an amazing recovery. Thank you so much for your help during this very difficult time!
