Gerald Razor Basketball Scholarship Fund

On Monday, December 28, 2020, Gerald “Bubby” Razor, loving husband and father of three passed away at the age of 62. He was born on August 24, 1958 in Montgomery County Kentucky to Jake and Alta Razor.

From a young age, Gerald learned hard work and dedication on the family farm in Bath County.  He was widely known for this and his passion for basketball and skills on the court.  He played for 4 years with the Bethel Eagles and 4 years at Bath County High School, leading his team to a win at Regionals in ’75 and played in the State championship in Louisville.

After graduating in 1976, Gerald began his career at Kentucky Textiles which would go on to shape his professional career over the decades.  His dedication led him to become an expert in textiles, eventually retiring from Vanguard where he worked with many friends and loved ones.

He lived his life to the absolute fullest and even in retirement he never slowed down.  In the last year he hiked 110 miles of the Appalachian Trail with his daughter and wife.  He loved spending time with his grandchildren and finding new ways to lovingly aggravate them.  He also loved his dogs Muggsy and Macey and many other animals in his life.

Gerald was always helping others, building things, tinkering and could fix anything. Just ask his daughters who went to him about everything from cars, to plumbing and home improvement.  Gerald loved going to the beach, going on cruises and had a lifelong passion for golf.  He also participated in many charitable 5K races with his family. Anyone who knew him knew that his family always came first.

He was survived by his wife, Michelle Razor; Mother, Alta Razor; Three daughters, Andrea (Frank) Hoskins, Ashlee (Zach) Baker, and Kristin Wagoner (Todd Plyler); Three grandchildren, Jakob Dorton, Leah Johnson, and Wyatt Hoskins; Brother, Mike (Becky) Razor; Sisters, Judy (Billy) Hughes, and Debbie (Johnny) Baber; Mother-in-law, Judy (Dave) Maddox.  In-laws, Kim (Mark) Rossetti, Bobby (Billie) Carolin, Jamie (Tonya) Carolin, Matt (Gena) Carolin, and Missy (Tim) Prins; And numerous nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by Father, John “Jake” Razor; Brothers, Tommy (Judy) Razor, and Earl (Wray Jean) Razor; Father-in-law, Larry “Papa” Carolin; In-law, Mike (Maggie) Carolin.

In light of current restrictions on public gatherings, the family is having a private celebration of life at his home and another will follow in Bath County at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to: Gerald Razor Basketball Scholarship fund, Board of Education, 405 West Main St, Owingsville, KY 40360 or online.
