We are Great Commission Family Church, a small congregation in East Houston with a story of faith that I want to share with you. GCFC was founded in January 07,2007 by Pastor Tyrone Sylvester. Our congregation began with only 18 people in his living room. With Gods blessings in September of 2007 we were able to purchase an existing structure on 1.7 acres with only $3500.00 in the church's bank account.
In 2011 we began construction on our multi-purpose center which included a gym, classrooms, fellowship hall, and kitchen. We believe that our purpose in the community is to know God and to make him known. Our pastor has a vision of GCFC being a servant to the community. We are a state recognized 501c3 organization, and we envision our building offering services such as daycare, social service availability, senior citizen assistance, recreational gym activities, and employment assistance.
As with all things that are Godly there is always a resistance. The bank that we entrusted with our business and the contractor whom we hired became at odds with each other and haulted construction on our building for months. Once the smoke had cleared we were left with an incomplete building and incoming mortgage payments. After much prayer we were able to secure financing to complete everything but the floors in the building.
The old saying goes, that we are out of money but not out of faith. We have about 15,000/sq ft of floor in the new structure. The price of vinly tile is about $4.50/sq ft installed. Today I am asking for your help. I need each person who reads this post to sow at least $4.50 and purchase 1/sq ft of tile. Scripture says, "we have not, because we ask not." I believe that the spirit through faith has moved me to ask. Help me show others that through faith we can accomplish anything. Help us serve, to know him and to make him known.
